Camp Bright Feathers

Camp Bright Feathers has provided us with the opportunity to serve children who attend summer camp during the month of August each year. These children are affected by or infected with Aids and are from families who do not have the financial means to provide for their needs during their week at the camp.

Over the past three years the Central Jersey Church of Christ has been instrumental in providing many of the items through TGIF to meet the needs of the Camp Bright Feathers children. Thanks to everyone who has participated in this project over the years.

Some of the items that are needed for the children for camp are:

Blankets, Sheets, Pillows, Pillow Cases
Clothes for children 4-13 years old
Sneakers and shoes
Batteries, Bugs spray, Flashlights
Soaps, Lotions, Shampoos, etc.

Soup Kitchens Volunteers

Serving At Elijah's Promise

By Andi Rincon

Our time at the soup kitchen went very well last fall as about six of our TGIF women came to serve. The men's shelter was very grateful and enjoyed chatting with all of us as we helped serve dinner. The regular staff had the whole process down to a science and instructed us well in the daily routine. It was good to see that the shelter receives many volunteers throughout the course of the year, in fact we were on a waiting list for 2 months before we served that night! We hope to return again this year with a larger team and find other ways to serve Elijah's Promise.

Women's Health & Wellness Fair 2009

The first project done by the TGIF group was the Women's Health & Wellness Fair in May 2008. Topics such as Nutrition, Diabetes, Hypertension, Mental Health, Ovarian Cancer, Physical Fitness and First-Time Motherhood were among the many that were addressed by experienced providers. The group received many positive feedback as well as suggestions for future women's health fairs and this led to the idea that a Men's Health Fair would be one of the future projects to be completed.

Please post your comments about the Women's Health Fair in 2008 and include any suggestions that you may have for our future health fairs for women. Thank you.
